July 01, 2022
Believe it or not, the Fourth of July has been noted as the most hazardous day for your phone. The device insurance and repair company Asurion noticed an intense difference in their business during this particular national holiday. They reported an astounding 50% increase over their next busiest day of the year. In some ways, people can prevent losing or damaging their phones. However, accidents happen and there’s nothing you can do to avoid them.
Every year the 4th of July can be filled with unexpected surprises. The most popular phone repairs seem to either be shattered screens, damage from drops, or water damage from being on the lake and swimming pool. We’re constantly moving from activity to activity, such as boating, parties, and fireworks – it’s no wonder why this summer holiday has been linked to major phone mishaps.
In 2021, Asurion said most of the repairs involved water with an 80% increase over the previous year. Cracked phone screens were up 10%, while there were 65% more phones lost. Everyone’s trying to capture photos or check their social media when out with friends and family. It’s also very exciting to see fireworks and spend time at the cabin, but it comes with an unfortunate price.
Luckily, there are a few preparations you can do in order to prevent a stressful time and a costly repair bill.
First, and foremost, before you take any other phone precautions, always be sure to back up your device to cloud storage. You don’t want to lose important documents or photos along with your phone, it only makes everything so much worse. Saving your phone’s storage every few weeks will be worth it in the long run.
Then you’re going to want to purchase a protective case to put over your device. It makes a huge difference to invest in a rugged, waterproof phone case, like this ugo® Phone 2.0 dry bag. ugo designed this bag with uZIP™ technology to ensure it’s completely safe from liquid damage.
Another brilliant idea behind this specific product – it floats and fits all smartphones and iPhones! It’s a one-size-fits-all devices rugged bag, measuring 7.5” by 4.75”. It also features extra space inside to fit your keys, cards, and whatever else you’ll need when on vacation mode. Not to mention it includes an adjustable shoulder/waist strap, along with Hypalon anchors to give you even more peace of mind.
